What
Red deer is recorded by a competent New Zealand authority as an introduced, invasive or managed threat subject.
Identification image pending
Why
The source identifies ecological, biosecurity or habitat risks that make this subject relevant to NZ Ex Games intelligence. Source context (Department of Conservation): Red deer contribute to the ecological effects associated with introduced wild deer: browsing native plants, trees, and seedlings; reducing forest understorey and regeneration; and trampling vegetation and soils. Effects are most consequential where deer density is high and vulnerable native vegetation is repeatedly browsed. New Zealand habitats occupied by red deer. Cervus elaphus. Group-level deer evidence supports mechanism, but not a quantified red-deer-specific impact estimate at every site. Evidence limitation: Red-deer-specific local impact/vegetation-monitoring evidence.
Where
Distribution and current presence are place-specific and must be established from current authoritative or verified evidence.
